What is behind the new tend redheads?
Well…Suddenly, chicks with mown fire encroaches on the catwalks of fashion, music industry and advertising campaigns. Gloria Agostina asked the experts what lies behind this trend.
You can’t deny the current obsession with hair red as fire. The list of celebrities that appear in this shade of hair grows every day. Rihanna show off their overly bright color for a year now, and nobody seems to get tired of her appearances that more or less hot. Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, opted for a red to violet beating and Khloe Kardashian walked the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards in January 2011, with freshly painted rusty curls. Following the trend conscientious, actresses Blake Lively, Mandy Moore, Whitney Port and Drew Barrymore, Lindsay Lohan, Julianne Moore, Marcia Cross and they have colorful hair color of passion.
Obviously inspired by this fashion, and fashion brand Mulberry did step in this direction, redheads dedicating entire collection for spring-summer season 2011.
What is the reason why more and more women decide to paint red the hair?
Experts say the desire to paint red is born, usually for two reasons: either you want to stand out from the crowd, whether you want to “shake” a little your life. For women who want to attract attention, moving to a reddish color is the safest way to catch the eye, because red is the rarest hair color and has the strongest influence of the color spectrum. This means that our pupils take longer to record than the other colors, says Dewey Sadka, color expert and author of “The Dewey Color System”. In other words, we are forced to “stare” over the red hair.
And if you’re in the spotlight is a benefit. ”Let’s make people notice you is the first step to becoming a successful person,” says Jerome Barkow, evolutionary anthropologist, professor and author of “Darwin, Sex and Status”. Red is on the wave now, blondes and brunettes now having been the dominant position far too long. What is perhaps surprising is that you guys really like this hair color. The explanation lies in marriage disasortativ theory, which attempts to explain why men are attracted to women who stand out from the crowd, said Todd Disotell, an anthropologist and professor at New York University.
The idea behind this theory is that if a guy is coupled with a redhead’s children will enjoy a new variety of genes, different from his, that can make the little one stronger. Normal, consciously, guys don’t realize that this is the explanation, when they see a redhead; they just think that chick is super hot.
Fuel enthusiasm for life
Regarding the desire to give new impetus to life, to paint your hair red option is easy, unlike something more permanent – for example, put your earrings in your nose or get a tattoo. And fire strands are associated with many nice features, for example that are combative and independence, says Jean Tweng, professor and coauthor of the book “The narcissism Epidemic”.
When you choose red, usually aspire to show off these features, which may explain why women tend to do when they need a “boost” of happiness, for example, after a breakup. It’s hard to tell exactly where they come from the association, says anthropologist Todd Disotell. Maybe it was popularized by those who fought against Celtic, redheads proud and combative history. Redheads with an iron will – see Elizabeth I – have maintained this notion.
Speaking of these stereotypes: they often turn into self-proclaimed prophets, says Barkow. If you really believe that redheads are sexy, unique and fearless, it is likely that when you dared to opt for this color, even to begin to seriously bring this typology.
